Unplug ANYTHING that possibly supply a drop of electricity to the board. Ethernet cable, monitor cable, etc. then clear CMOS.

This did the trick for me. I made sure everything was disconnected from the motherboard and than cleared the cmos. And now i can boot up fine. Have had to revert to a pervious bios setting though.

You don't know how many times i have brought a supposedly dead board back to life again even when brought in by experienced system builders by doing just what you did – even when customers recieving an email like the one by Asus above. Remember it. It's what i call a 'hard cmos clearing'. I call clearing by just the jumper a 'soft' cmos clear.

Re:I have found the best way to flash an Asus POS boards is thru the floppy drive, not in winblows or thier EZflash

Totally agree I used their windows interface and ended up with all this trouble.

Re:You have fried the bios chip Bro. I had the same thing happen to me on a diff. Asus mobo & heres the reply I got from them:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your support for our products!

Please start by clearing the system c-mos memory following the procedure in your manual. Make sure the power AND the battery on the motherboard is removed before shorting the CLR RTC solder points or jumper pins. Short the pins for at least 20-30 seconds.

If this is still not working, you can have your old BIOS chip reprogrammed or order a new, reprogrammed chip fro! m us.

********************************** IMPORTANT ************************************************
************************************************** *********************************************
Please refer to your manual to locate the BIOS chip on your motherboard. If the chip is removable, it will be fitted into a socket. Please be careful when removing the chip–do not damage the socket or the chip. Make sure you remove the chip from the socket, but DO NOT remove the socket from the motherboard.

Here is the BIOS pricing guide, along with the procedure to obtain a new/reflashed BIOS chip.

If you are in North America, you can order a NEW BIOS chip online at http://helpdesk.asus.com/biosorder/store/aci_dynamicIndex.asp.

You can buy a new chip or send it in to have it reprogramed. I have found the best way to flash an Asus POS boards is thru the floppy drive, not in winblows or thier EZflash shiat.

;) :)

Re:Yah. CMOS clearing will solve it easily. Unplug ANYTHING that possibly supply a drop of electricity to the board. Ethernet cable, monitor cable, etc. then clear CMOS. You can even try taking the battery out, if so make sure you set the date/time after reboot.

Re:Try clearing CMOS with mem and atx connector unplugged.

Re:Try to get a cd or a floppy to boot in dos but so far no success

Re:ok tried resetting the cmos by taking the batter out and resetting the jumpers but that does not work

Re:thanks for the help
but when i turn my pc on nothing happens all i hear is the fans and that is it.
the only way i can switch it off is if i unplug the machine.
the floppy or cd drives will not boot.
help

Re:When the PC is starting, hold the Alt+F2 keys. Download the bios from Asus site and rename it to xxx.rom (see your user manual for the rename for the bios file) and put it on a floppy. The Alt+F2 will seek this bios from the floppy and flash it hopefully.

Re:Does anything happen when you turn it on?

If yes then i believe that the cd that comes with the mobo can help you out in this situation. Asus is supposed to have crash free bios where you can use the cd to fix this type of problem.

Also, clearing the cmos may help. Have you tried that yet? (if not then you should probably do that prior to using the cd).
