Q: This is my system:

Abit KT7A + Raid Mobo
Tbird 850 @ 850
ATI Radeon 32MB DDR Crucial @ standard
256MB CL2
2-45GB IBM Deskstar 7200RPM

okay, now it isnt locked up, sometimes its just random blocks . anyone have any idea why? my system is 22C, 22C on the CPU and . it is purely idle to 19 . under heavy load for 20 minutes it gets to 34C . Anyone know why this cmputer random blocks? No matter whether in a game or just in windows . where 2 to 30 minutes after I start . pooof! blocking the screen . cannot move the mouse or press keys or something . 4.28 installed VIA 4 in 1 drivers and up to date Radeon drivers . PALEEASSEE suggestions ?!?!?

Re:T-Birds are really very picky about how the heatsinks are mounted. If you don't have it on tight enough and flat your temp will fly high. If you have high temps, than that is it.

Re:What is your ram timing at. 133Mhz CAS 222? I had A stick of PC133 Micronics CAS2 in my KT7 and I would get the same thing. Left little green lines at the top of the screen when it locked. I switched over to Kingmax PC150 and have not had a lockup since. You could try turning down your ram timing and see if it still locks up. If it does, then that's it. If not, keep trying all the other suggestions.

Re:I have done all of that, disabled 4x, set to 68, etc etc…. I have the via 4 in 1 drivers 4.28 etc etc….

most of these problems started up a little while after removing the stock heat sink and putting on a better one of my own.. the problem is the thermal pad to stick them together didnt work, so im using artic silver and a rubber band…..not too flush…. also, in quake III, my frames per second are like a third of what they used to be…

Re:guy, what sound card do you use?

Re:Most likely it's an issue with your radeon. Go into bios and disable 4Xagp. Change the driving control to manual and set it to 68. Disable fast write. When you boot into windows, start up msconfig by going through start>run>msconfig>startup and uncheck Atipta and Atipolab.

Re:Do you have the AMD and VIA AGP patches from Microsoft?
