Re:The Windows XP SP2 firewall almost NEVER interferes with common consumer programs and typical network file sharing. The same can't be said for other consumer-level firewalls.

Re:By see, I mean that all the other pc's should appear on the monitor when I clik on network places icon. But I have hopefully resolved the problem, and yes you were right, I think. I removed Norton, and several other suspect programs, then disabled the windows firewall. I then rebooted, and re-enabled the windows firewall……….and it now works!!! This pc will be behind a Linksys DSL swtch so I think another firewall will be un-needed.
Thanks for your reply.

Re:That board has a built in firewall, is that the one you're talking about? What about windows firewall?

It almost has to be some kind of firewall or deliberate restriction since presumably you are plugged into the same switch as the machines that work… what do you mean by 'see' btw? Can you ping?

Re:Crap!!!
I messed that up good.
Anyway, I have 3 older computers that work fine, plus this new A8n32, and it wont see any of them, nor can they see it. I know the lan port is working, 'cause i can get onto the internet with it. It seems to be set up the same as the others, so what am I missing? The firewall is setup the same as the others. I am at a loss as to where to look next.
