Need help burning a dual layer disc [dual layer disc] [check disc]

Q: This is my first time to try a DL disc. I use a Memorex DVD + R DL 8.5 GB disc, Nero 6 and a Samsung SH-S183L. Im trying to burn a data CD, total size is 7.5 GB, thre folders with a bunch of video files in each folder. When I click burn, I get an error “Compilation will not fit on a blank disc to get.” When I check the disc button, says the drive is empty and has a maximum capacity of 8.5 GB. Anyone have any idea whats going on? I dont have any other burning programs that I can only try nero.

Im Windows 2000, and recently has started acting really weird. For no apparent reason and completely at random times, just locks up. Its not completely stop, because if I play music, the music continues to play after the lock-up. What happens is my computer stops accepting input (keyboard or mouse . the numlock key does not even work), and the scene is not updated all (animated banner ads on Web pages, status bars, CD burning stops moving, etc.). S

Q: OK, Ive already ordered from newegg, but I can still cancel. I saw some messages that said they were OK, and EVGA were good (not in stock newegg), and a few other mentioned.

So what is best bang / buck?

I can not now check (newegg is down again), but I think my only chices were albrtron (just rmaed a 6600 of them), AOpen, Asus (ran much slower and 128 megs ram), PNY, and a few others Ive never heard of. EVGA is there I think about $ 150 more after delivery.

Modem stopped just answer the phone [doggone thing] [wont answer]

Q: I have Win XP Pro installed, but reconizes all my modem has the latest drivers etc,
The Doggone thing just answer the phone. I use one of the two phone / fax programs.
1. Bitware of Cheyene
2. Appl Faxtalk

Neither will answer the phone, why?
Ive tried various settings, in winXP device manager and in each program recognizes the modem.

Any idea?

Semi large files over the Internet? [dynamic ips] [two computers]

Q: Hi guys,
My friends and I live in two different countries. I live in the U.S. and he lives in Norway. Is there a way to get large files over the Internet directly between two computers? We both use Windows XP Pro. Were both trying to IPs.
We dynamic broadband video and photo transfer of our families. We are tired of the limited storage on the free FTP sites.
We directly to transfer files securely over the broadband.

Problem w / XP and scandisk / check disk / whatever. [checkdisk] [scandisk]

Q: Did this problem a while back and never figured it out. I formatted (for another reason) and went away.
Anyway, when I was a disc check schedule, no problems found, but when they the PC restarts after the disk check, freezes on the screen telling me that the disk check is performed on the NTFS, etc. screen.

Only way to bring up the PC to power off and resart. I have to choose Last Known Configuration. If I choose Start Windows Normally, it is only through the check disk again

I hate to say this, but I like the functionality of MS Outlook. Currently I use Sylpheed for my e-mail. I played pretty much always have it open Im on the computer. It is a great MUA, but I wonder if I would switch to Evolution. Are there any good standalone calendar apps? I would love it if you can pop-up reminders. I use xfce4 as my WM. As with the Agenda, I want something like Outlook Task List as well.

Q: Is there anyone (long shot here) Nokia 445PRO they run with a G4? I see that Nokia is Mac compatible, but Im not on Macs, so I do not know what that means for the G4.
