Bad idea to split the connection of the cable modem is on? [cable modem] [bad idea]

Q: With a 1000MHz splitter, my signal drops every 10 minutes pretty much on my .

Do not make them better people or am I SOL?

Re:Actually, the ideal solution is to split the cable only one. One end goes to your , the other end goes to an amplifier. After the amplifier, you can run it through the house, and your modem gets as clean and pure a signal as you could hope for.

Re:Youll need an amp that supports bi-directional pathing, most cheap radio shack amps dont allow the pathing back of signals which is required for cable modems.

interestingly, its not so much the type of connector but how many times your cable line is split before getting to the modem

even split in your hous's wiring.

every split reduces the signal (measured in Db, I think). and when that signal is too weak, it can't support high speed internet. -although you should still see a TV picture.

So if you have a lot of splits in your cable line you should get some amps.

Re:You might want to try a different model or exchange the current one. Make sure you're incoming signal is actually going to the port labeled for it. I brought a cheap one at a hardware store and it's been working fine for me. I noticed slight signal degradation after putting it in (the signal deal on the changed) but it worked fine.

Re:I've had mine split on an RCA cheapo splitter for years with no splitter-related problems. Sure, i get drops of service every now and then, but those are real outages that tech support confirms.
