Re:Ok, I tried something slightly different. I took one of my old hard drives and put a fresh copy of Win2k Pro on it. Installing on the bare minimums, the system seemed to run fine until I booted up unreal tournament (the first graphical intensive program I tried) and then the same problem happened… screen flicks and goes black and the system halts. At this point, I'm inclined to think it's a hardware problem and something on the MB may have burned out =(.
I'm not jumping to conclusions, but what would you guys recommend at this point? If I were to replace my MB, any inputs? I'm thinking the MSI KT333 one looks pretty good, and only 75$ on pricewatch. On the other hand, i could go with the 8K3A for 10$ more (but don't know if I want to after having this experience with it). I know I'm citing two KT333 boards, and I don't have PC2700 RAM. Is it likely that my PC2400 will overclock to PC2700? Mushkin?
How To Build A Gaming Computer For Under $1000
Re:Ok you can try a few things like rollback to a earlier time with system restore which is in control panel then performance and maintenance ,or stick the XP CD in and do a repair on bootup,I would personally do a format and clean install of XP,to see if this fixes the problem.
Strange you`ve that problem with the AMD AGP driver, since my cousin is using it with no problems with his XP PC.The only other thing I can think of is it might be a power problem ,but I would try clean install of XP first.

Re:Ok, I got those miniagp drivers updated to 5.33, but now the machine refuses to boot with the GF2 inserted and the GF4 freezes after post. =(

Re:I used a 32MB PNY Geforce on an EP-8KHA+ in a build for a friend recently, worked great (Win98 and the drivers that shipped with the card).

Re:Hey mem, thanks for the quick and friendly response. I've already done god knows what to the bios, even resorted to keeping a table of all the things I've changed… but to no avail. This miniAGP thing for the northbridge is something I have not tried and I will get on that right now and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Re:Using Epox 8KHA+ here with my GF2 Ti ,no problems with that or XP PRO,anyway have you tried installing the latest AMD AGP driver 5.33 from here (http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_2336~4233,00.html) ,being your board has an AMD northbridge, also try some BIOS tweaks like disable all video shadowing, disable system bios cacheable ,and try AGP 2x as last resort. I always keep PCI slot 1 empty (nearest to AGP slot) even on 2K/XP.
Another thing try the ram at normal settings in bios rather then ,fast, turbo etc.
BTW welcome to AT forums ,guy.
