Computer is on, but no DISPLAY [power supply fan] [safe boot]

Q: Ok, so my computer works fine until I receive my RMA Plextor 716SA drive and install it. After that is done, I turn on my computer – the blue light and all, but the monitor shows nothing (as it is in idle mode).

Ive tried unplugging the other devices, but even the mobo itself will not boot. The runs, the switch to 115V. I tried clearing the CMOS jumper and setting my boat to a safe, but none of them has worked.

Help please?

Best Answer: Sounds to me like it isn't loading the operating system. If there is a cd in the drive it is most likely trying to boot from it. Try putting in a bootable cd/dvd (windows installation disk) and see if anything comes up. Also make sure you didn't accidentally disable booting to the hard drive……. I know a guy called big steve, he's from demorest ga… you wouldn't happen to be the same guy would you?

Re:Found my problem. OCZ Gold VX is dead…

I knew something was wrong with those modules when they were burning hot at stock speeds.

Re:hmm, scratch that. I do hear the post beep, but again, reinserting the graphics doesn't work. Any more advice?

Re:No, I don't hear any POST beep, and yes I do hear the hard drives spinning up. I did unplug the power connectors to my devices when I tried that…and re-inserting the video card didn't change anything.

thanks, but more help plz?

Re:Do you hear the POST beep at all? Do you hear the hard drives spinning up? When you said you unplugged the other devices, does that include the power connectors? Sounds like you are getting a short somewhere, possibly. If the additional drive is the only change, everything should function properly.

Try removing and re-inserting your video card (if you are hearing the POST). It may have worked its way loose.
