Cox 15Mbps – any experience? Lag to murder [annoyance] [comcast]
Q: I just moved and switched from Comcast (I think they were at 6Mbps) of Cox (5Mbps). For $ 10 extra per month Cox will bump you up from 5Mbps to 15Mbps. Im not a big downloader, but Ive noticed was with Cox. With Comcast, everything was always right. Im now wondering whether to upgrade to the 15Mbps plan will I meet the backlog elimination. It is not important, but it is something of an annoyance from Comcast. Thank you.
Re:Doesn't suprise me, Cox uses some strange routing at times through their own network.
Re:Sounds like slow DNS servers.
Re:could also be slower DNS servers returning info
Re:Comcast may have been caching commonly-accessed sites. That's a common practice among ISPs to reduce load times and network traffic.

Define lag, then we can tell you how to eliminate the lag.
There is a delay when loading web pages. Usually just a few seconds. It's kind of annoying; with Comcast, page loads were immediate for the majority of sites out there (major sites like Google, Yahoo!, etc.).

Re:Is this limited to specific areas or is this nationwide wherever Cox provides internet?
Re:No, moving to the 15MB plan will not remove the lag, sorry I wish it did but no such luck.
