I already got most areas except the Mobo and Monitor.
Will are primarily used for, amateur video editing, School

Re:Turtle beach santa cruz/klipsch promedias or midilands/drop the dvd decoder card(your gonna be low on irqs and its redundant).. possibly drop the cordless stuff, not as useful as i thought it would be. cordless mouse =50hz refresh so not so good for games…get a logitech optical mouse. logitech force 3d joystick has a good price and is rated good.

Re:guy, I already have a SCSI card from my old puter, it's an Adaptec AHA-2930 that's what I'm planning on using as I barely had any problems with it in the past.
guy, I need the zip drive because I work at home and school, so I do need removable storage, as for the plextor, I'm looking into the IDE unit because I have heard much good stuff about it, and burning speed is a priority of mine.
I don't really have set plans on overclocking the CPU (althought I'm gonna push this computer as high as the sky let me take it) but If I were to opt to overclock it, How far could it go?, would I have to make modifications to the chip? (links would be helpful).
It's obvious now I'm gonna cancel my Mobo order and go with the KT7-Raid. Which Reminds me, I need a good Place to buy a FULL TOWER (with a whole lot of power) Case and That Abit KT7-Raid combo, looking to spend less 250-300 bucks for both.
I'd prefer buying from a reputated and large online retailer (as I may look into getting a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and get the Midiland S4 8200 speakers if my SB live and creative speakers are returnable).
Suggestions Please.

Re:I got the Maxtor because It was part of my old puter, so I'd rather keep it since I can always use storage. As for the Abit KT7-Raid, anyone knows a good page I could use to get some information on Raid, I'm not familiar with Raid technology. and If I get the Abit, will I still be able to get the Promise card and have support for 8 IDE devices? (it is key that I have 3 IDE Hard Drives of Maximum Capacity). I'm not going because storage space is my main concern, as opposed to Speed.

Re:I'd go with a Abit KT7-RAID, dump the Maxtor and run the IBMs in a stripe set.
The SB Live Platinum is great but I'd save my money and get the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and get the Midiland S4 8200 speakers. The Santa Cruz is great and offers 6 speaker support for the S4 8200 or even the Creative Theatres.
The Ultra Plex is the best but I would get the SCSI burner if Read Write speads aren't essential. Bit by bit extraction from the two Plextor units is awesome.
The Zip drive is a waste of cash in my opinion but to each man his own.

Re:Don't go with a slotted Athlon; they're pretty much on the way out.
A KT7-RAID allows you the ability to overclock your CPU easily, plus it offers an onboard RAID controller. If you want to save a bit 'o the green stuff and upgrade elsewhere, get a Duron. Most of 'em overclock to 850 or 900.

Re:If your going to spend that kind of money I would dump the IDE hard drives and get some Ultra wide 2 10000 rpm scsi hard drives. The slowest bottle neck today are IDE hard drives.

Re:Since you are asking our opinions, I would go with a P3 866 proc, and SCSI for both the CDRW and CDROM. If you must go Athlon, you should realize that the K7M isn't PC133 compliant, it is PC100. You are buying PC133 ram though….
Also, why the 40 GB Maxtor? It's not in the same class as the IBM drives. Get a Fastrak 66 controller instead of the Promise 66 controller, and go IDE RAID with your IBM drives. Mucho speed in a stripe set.

but I see no SCSI controller. More importantly, why are you going EIDE burner but SCSI CD-ROM? If you're going SCSI, why not go SCSI on the burner too?

Hm, buy a GTS II, Voodoo 5 6000 and a Radeon. For Glide Games, you can use the Voodoo, for other Games the GTS II and for DVD watching the Radeon, what do you think?
