Dell: Non-Dell Win XP Pro. Will he ask the COA? [dell computer] [pro cd]

Q: I usually install my hard drive with Win XP Home or Pro CD on my Dell computer and Dell will not ask the COA. Im sure most of you are aware of this.

If I install Win XP Pro (OEM Original package) that is not from Dell on my Dell computer, it will still ask for COA?

Re:You will need a OEM version to re-install. A retail version will not work with your key!

Re:I am not 100% sure that is correct. I believe that Dell has a volume license for their OEM CDs hence the non-requirement before entering a CD key and the need for activation.

Re:You can use it. Just enter the CD key.

The reason that Dell's CDs do not prompt for the key is because the key is already on the CD. You can customize your setup CD and do this yourself, if you like.
