DHCP PC can not (or can not see it) [thinkpad 570] [cable work]
Q: Thinkpad 570, Windows2000, SP1
Fresh install
I am trying to connect this laptop to my cable modem and cable modem.
The work fine w / my desktop.
I tried to get two different ehternet PCMCIA cards.
They installs fine, all lights are there, if I
but ipconfig / release / renew, you may not see DHCP
The proper connection is not done .
I also tried to use the cable modem as USB device
Same connnect thing.
It get some 196.xxx.xxx.xxx default IP address (DHCP)
I also return the TCP / IP stuff.
Any clues?

Re:Sometimes, Microsoft's DHCP renew request doesn't work properly with some devices. In those cases, a DHCP lease can only be aquired when the computer boots up.
You can trick your network adapter, though, by disabling it and then reenabling it. It then may get a new lease.
