ECS K7S5A motherboard microphone problem [ecs k7s5a] [k7s5a motherboard]

Q: A friend of mine is to use the onboard sound on are. Using a microphone with her, she has a lot of distortion, random clicking noises, etc. . I tried swapping the microphone that I use without problems, and got the same results. Played around with the volume buttons did not help. Any idea what could cause this?

Re:Nah, it has an Athlon XP 1800 CPU, so I really can't imagine that being an issue.

Re:Not that it should be a factor in modern systems but I wonder what processors PinwiZ and guy are using, maybe theres a bit of a gap there?

When it comes to AC97, an XP is going to be better than a Duron….not that it should really be noticeable but worth checking anyway.

Re:Sorry, I meant to mention that I had also tried the updated drivers, still the same problem. Any other ideas?

Re:The drivers should be fine. We used the ones from the install CD, and the sound plays fine and everything, just the microphone doens't work so well. Any ideas?

Re:Mine works just fine. Maybe wrong driver loaded?
