eliminating the network of “My Network Places” icon in Win2k? [network neighborhood]

Q: I know in win98 use them to call IT network win2k neighborhood and called the My Network Places now.

Is there a way of removing the icon on the desktop, so users do not see?

Id just want to hide as the user. :)

Re:It just removes the icon. You will not loose any network access.

Re:FWIW I used Tweak UI to remove my "My Network Places" icon from my desktop and have had no trouble whatsoever with my DSL.

Re:If you remove this icon do you lose any network functionality? I use this Win2000 box at home to connect to the internet via DSL. I'm not connected to any networks. Will my setup still work if I remove the "My Network Places" icon from my desktop?

Re:TweakUI also works.

Other regedits to hide it are here (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/150/). If you want to leave the icon but hide specific parts, check here (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/542/) and here (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/172/). Or you could just get rid of everything on the desktop (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/147/).
