Sustained shows that the modem that the last thing installed. Any idea why it wants to install an unknown device? Please it.

Thanks do appreciate all the help, Mac

Re:Turned out to be an update inf that let 98se see the chipset and it seemed to install a bunch of drivers. Like a PCI bridge.
Thanks for the interest.

Re:<scratches head> — Are there any onboard devices that you aren't using?

Re:I unistalled the modem and took it out of the computer. Still boots up to unknown device detected and wants to install something…

Re:Maybe its looking for the speakerphone driver (http://e-www.motorola.com/collateral/SM56_DRIVERS.html) — anyhow, I think your software modem should have 2 entries in the device mgr: 1)HCFModem (which is a modem enumerator) and 2)Modem. If you don't have both then the HCFModem is probably what it's looking for.

Re:Does the board have an INFARED Port that is not detected and conflicting
with the Modem?

Re:Dled the audio and video driver from Aopen. Also installed a Mororola modem.
Chipset is an 810L. DLed and ran the program to see make 98se see the intel chipset. Said didn't need an update, everything was ok.

Re:Chances are that the "unknown devices" are related to the chipset.
Have you installed the Intel chipset drivers?
