Q: What are your favorite CS server to play on?

Best Answer: Completely uninstall Steam and re-install it. I had the same problem in Windows 7 RC and that was the only solution I could find. You may have to even create an entire new account. I have had to do that once in Vista and it really sucked! Your account on that computer may be conflicting with a third party software or application, please read the posting in my tech forum via the link provided below. Are you and your boyfriends accounts identical? If not then you likely have a software conflict. And yes, I do sympathize with you as it is a very frustrating situation.
In response to your additional question unfortunately the answer is pretty much "Yes", you likely need a new account to use on your boyfriends computer or you will have to find the conflict, and this can become extremely complex even for an advanced technician like myself.. We know that the account is not corrupt as you can play it on other computers…correct?
Now to troubleshoot the issue to get it to play on your b.f.'s computer you would have to start removing games from your account is sequences and /or, likely both, third party software from your b.f.'s system. You will probably have a good size portion of your steam account deleted and a fair amount of applications ( assuming he has some) from your b.f.'s computer that I am sure he is not looking forward to removing and still not find the conflict.
One suggestion I do have is to compare your games list with his and if you have games he does not, start removing those first. Also if you have the same games in your accounts and have been saving different levels or playing in online team games you may have save saved something that is conflicting that he has not.
But ultimately it would be best to just create a new account and start over rather than create a mess and then in the end risk the chance of still having to create a new account. Sorry I do not have better news for you.

Re:my favorite is the STNY RR one. Thats state of new york, road runner. They managed to get the server colo'd in a time warner datacenter where several of their links for cable modems come together. Anyone on RR in the bottom right quarter of NY can get sub 45 pings reliably.
Other things:
-its 32 players
-there's a program that decides what team you get placed on, and that moves the best guy if a team is kicking too much ass.
Re:I found a really good server, it has 32 player maps which is crazy when it's packed.
The server is always running and usually gets packed at night.
Has HLGuard running.
