(Fixed) HP Deskjet 3820 – printing garbled text at the top of several pages [hp deskjet 3820] [deskjet 3820]
Q: I just re-print drivers for my DJ 3820. It has been lost since my last size / reinstall. After using the drivers from the CD to install, Windows tells me that the software is installed and the device is ready for use. However. When I turn the printer on, it starts shooting out pages with garbled text at the top. I have some pictures with my digicam. The paper is a bit curled / wrinkled so it may seem that the text was not printed right, but it was – bad photo angle or something. I also changed the settings on the cameras so the last two pictures look darker than usual:

I called HP, but since I bought the printer from more than 90 days ago is the warranty and they want $ 25 to probably tell me to rip out the drivers and fvck the registry.
Anybody have some advice or experience with this?

You guys ROCK. The USB cable did the trick. Too bad I have to use USB, though. I have more USB devices to use than I have USB ports. >-< And I hate those PCI USB cards.

Re:Well, I found a USB cord and it fits. I just hope HP doesn't use proprietary USB cords and this be the wrong one.

Re:I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and software. I've tried deleting everything Hewlet-Packard related in the registry and reinstalling the drivers/software.
The moment I turn the printer on, it warms up and starts printing jibberish. The Parrallel cable is nice and tight, too, but I don't have a USB cable to try it with, I don't think. I'll have to go look through my misc box of crap to see if it got tossed in there by mistake.

Warranties on most printers are only 90 days (in the US that is)….
