Getting messages from Mozilla Mail to Outlook [personal preference] [microsoft product]
Q: Does anyone know how to use Outlook or Outlook Express to import the messages I received using Mozilla Mail.
I am just finding it so much easier to get a good old Microsoft (please do not use flame me, it is a personal preference).
Any ideas on how to import messages from Outlook to Mozilla Mail?
Thanks in advance
Best Answer: I don't use that provider but the description you give sounds like some authentication problems.
I assume you have already double checked that the account details entered are correct.
Have you tried changing the security settings (in the account settings select "Server Settings")? E.g. use "Never" or "TLS" or "SSL" and try with toggling the "Use secure authentication".

Re:Tried that, and there is no files listed when I navigate to the appropriate directory.
And it is the wrong directoy and/or spot. I even tried a trick from off Google that said to install Navigator and have Outlook grab the mail from it. But that did not work either.
Thanks anyway folks. Looks like I am screwed!

Re:Did you try "Import Internet Mail and Addresses"?
Then point it to the Mozilla directory;
Documents and Settings\ <UserName> \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Profiles
Click on the file without the MSF extension.

Re:Well Ok, I have tried a number of things now, including the link (thanks caperjack …. nice to see someone on here from my home town), but with no luck..
I have tried importing using Outlook 2003 with every possible file type. Lotus, Exchange, CSV, PST, etc with no luck. Then I tried to use Outlook express to grab the mail first, and then import it with Outlook 2003. Notta!
Outlook express can't even find it.
Any other thoughts?

Re:Mozilla stores mail in standard mbox format. When you import into outlook, pick the "eudora" format (eudora also uses mbox format), and it should import ok.

LilithTech, that was my thought exactly, but I wanted to see if anyone else had ever tried. Guess I am hooped. Oh well…

Re:I maybe wrong, but I do not think you can IMPORT the mail from Mozilla
directly into Outlook. Mozilla uses the MBOX format for storing mail which
neither Outlook (Express or Outlook 2k/XP/2k3) support.
What version OUTLOOK and OS are you using?
