Q: I found a cool version called Knoppix which is completely on a . No installation, just run the CD. I thought that was pretty cool, so I am now and Im going to try.

Heres a description:

This runs entirely from a . The data on the CD is uncompressed on the fly, enabling them to 2 GB value of the system and programs fit on one CD including a complete X server, KDE and Gnome, and large packages such as OpenOffice and The Gimp. Because it runs only the CD, Knoppix is an excellent portable Linux demo system or rescue disk, but for completeness makes it a good distribution as a general purpose well.

Re:You should try out gentoo, I used to use Red Hat but Gentoo is so much better IMO, no worrying about RPM dependencies or conflicts, its great.

And Debian is the same thing without all the waiting for things to compile.

And you can install apt4rpm on RedHat and it'll do dependency resolution for you, just like on Debain.

You should try out gentoo, I used to use Red Hat but Gentoo is so much better IMO, no worrying about RPM dependencies or conflicts, its great.
