As for the comment about burn-in on the plasma, the technology has advanced dramatically over the past couple of years regarding burn-in, to where it's almost nonexistant in plasmas anymore.
1080i is not better than 720p. detail is lost due to interlacing, so the numbers are misleading.

Re:Yeah… burn-in on a plasma can still be an issue, but not nearly as much as a few years ago. Unfortunately, most plasmas lose their brightness pretty fast. THAT's the current issue that everyone whines about (after owning one for a year or two).
LCDs, of course, have the whole dead pixels (not a big prob on larger monitors) and the "low contrast ratio" gripe. Most units don't show noticeable ghosting anymore, though, and I don't have any big quarrels with most of the black levels I've seen.
DLPs have trouble with whites, the rainbow effect, and more frequent bulb changes.
In short, you're going to be happy and screwed no matter what decision you make. With what is CURRENTLY on the market, I'd go only for LCDs if you're going to have general use (games, DVDs, HDTV, PC). Plasmas are on their way out in a few years, and DLPs could go either way. We'll likely end up seeing a popular, new format (more likely a new take on LCD) become the dominant unit type in the next few years.

Re:63 inch plasma? DO you not get burn-in using consoles on plasmas? I am pretty sure you do. One of the techie nerds at FS told me they hooked a 360 up to it when the first got them in stock and within 7 or 8 minutes you could see the menu burn in while playing…..You may want to look into it and warn your friend.

The 37" is certainly very big if you're in a relatively small room. I can't say I would've been all that disappointed if I chose the 32" (except maybe for splitscreen games). But in the end (with Best Buy's 0% until 2008) I'm still happy I went with the 37".
Re:Played the 360 this weekend.
NHL2k6 is a horrible dissapointment, you may as well just play it on the Xbox or PS2. There's nothing next gen about it.
NBA2k6 is really nice looking, but it feels like they didnt get the cloth physics engine down well and flubbed certain things. Still very fun even though it needs more work.
PGR3 is really pretty as well. Just about photorealistic. I only watched it though, didnt play that one.
Strangely, the game we played the most was Geometry Wars (just the trial). It's strangely addicting and just all around fun… "Just One More Game…"
I like the 360, although the games are not there yet. I'd probably buy NBA, PGR3 and PD:Z (because I loved the first)

There have been complaints about loud fans but honestly, I can't hear mine when I'm playing. I don't even have the sound up very loud because I usually can only play after my kids are in bed.

Re:PDZ has honestly become more fun the longer I play it. I felt the exact same way about the slow action, but now I find it quite entertaining. Going back to UT2004 feels strange, now. Almost an unwelcomely high pace.
Kameo is pretty fun. Nothing extremely groundbreaking, but surely fun enough. It's another one that looks real, real nice.
PGR is PRETTY in HD (just a 37" Westy). I don't play many racing games (the only other one I currently own is Burnout 3), so I can't really compare the gameplay.
CoD 2 is fun, but I didn't bother to buy it myself because I sometimes get tired of playing online (whether PC or Xbox), so the lack of bots really hurts it for me.
That's all I have for now. Looking into Condemned soon. Maaaaaybe DOA 4, if reviews are near-perfect. *Definitely* waiting hard for next-year titles like Dead Rising, Gears of War, Ghost Recon, and Oblivion (not to mention the Mistwalker RPGs).

That's cause it is the slickest and easiest to use console interface yet. And it's not just about the menu. It's about the whole concept that MS has setup with the menu, the media functionality, Xbox Live Marketplace, and Live Arcade.
I'm really getting a kick out of the Live Arcade games like Geometry Wars, Joust, and Gauntlet. These are great little quickie games and actually make decent party games.
It's also great to be able to download demos of games for free instead of buying a magazine I won't read just to get them. I've tried Madden, Kameo, NFS:MW, and NBA Live along with a couple of other Live Arcade games.
Also, do you think that because the graphics are so good that it might be too much for the cpu to handle the control and the way the game is played.

And also they took out parts of 06 that people liked. Could it be that its cuz not having enough space on the dvd9. Shouldve went with hd-dvd.
No. Had to do with the fact that EA completely rebuilt Madden from the ground-up for the 360. They didn't have time to put in all the rest of the features. You can expet to see everything in next year's release. EA basically used the 360 as the base from which to build on for all their next-gen titles.
Also, HD-DVD would have skyrocketed the cost and it wasn't even ready by the time MS was wanting to launch the 360. Sony is willing to take the huge financial hit of putting a BluRay drive in each PS3 because that risk will pay off for them in the long run if BluRay becomes the defacto standard.
Hopefully the ps3 wont have these sorts of problems. The playstation is the only console i plan on owning. Got a good enough pc for the fps's.

And I kind of doubt ea is going to really do anything to improve the game. There ea remember.
