Has anyone removed their stock fan and memory heatsinks on their GeForce 3? [geforce 3] [heatsinks]
Q: Does anyone know how to do this? I was thinking of making a better fan and heatsink different (for looks, because I have Plexiglas in my case) how would you find on the new? I use thermal glue or what? Any info appreciated . thanks a lot
Re:OK, Putting your board in the freezer is totally unrequired. I have a Creative GeForce256 with Thermaltake Blue Orb (sweet lil thing), but before it had a crappy heatsink/fan glued onto the chip. I followed this guide (http://home.earthlink.net/~chinmonster/) and it worked out great without any funky solutions.
Re:ASII is arctic silver 2, but you'll need the epoxy. (it can glue stuff…:))
Re:hey john can you help clarify something for me…. does ASII mean artic silver 2. I already have some artic silver but how does the fan stay on the graphics board? Do i have to screw them in or glue it?
Re:hehe, I replaced the HS/Fan on my GF2.. not for any reason other than I was bored out of my mind one day.
GF2 with an old 486 Heat sink and with some crappy fan screwed on to it (http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/lig/a/g/agent707/P1010007.JPG)
It cools it better. I can now touch the back of the video card without getting burnt! ![]()
Re:I stuck mine in the freezer for a few minutes and they popped off with a little prying. You can use ASII epoxy to put them back on.
