Q: Hi all,

I win2k installed, and after several false attmpts of installing the OS, I want my as out-of-the-box condition again, I mean, 100% empty, in the same condition as when I bought it, is it possible? Preferably without using a $ 70 software, through 977 503 977 503

Re:I thought he just meant clean of data, in which case I might be right. :)

But, yes, you sould have to do a 0 fill or low-lovel it to make it factory style.

Re:Actually a couple formats won't leave it in "out-of-box condition." The drive will be partitioned and formatted. When you buy a new drive, it is often neither partitioned or formatted.

Re:Thanks for the help!!

Re:You could also do several MSDOS formats in a row, I've heard this may work..

Re:Sure. Go to the manufacturer's website where you should find some form of an erase utility.
Download it to a floppy, reboot, and it will do a low level format which is pretty much as clean as you'll be able to get it, and as clean as the day you bought it.
