Help! Computer crashes during the PC game. [nv4 disp] [bsod]
Q: Ive only tried two games so far, the mp demo and Call of Duty 2 GRAW 2. Graw ran fine for a good 10 minutes or so and then it freezes, plays the same ingame SOUND repeatedly and then goes to a BSOD and I can see some of the words something like “nv4_disp” and then the PC simply re- set. The screen flashes so fast i cannot read anything. Similarly, if what im trying to Call of Duty 2 to play. How strange is that the game seemed to be carried out incredibly slow, but I remember playing in a much higher framerate. I thought it would be an overheating problem, or CPU voltage problem. So I put a huge fan right on the side of the PC, and let the CPU voltage a bit, but still blocked. Graw will sometimes crash the server search screen.

Best Answer: The problem may occure due the following reason
1.Unsupported motherboard or cheap rated motherboard
2.over heating
first u check weather the 8800gt is supported for ur motherboard with use of internet. The motherboar should be nvidie supporting motherboard if not it will lead to over heating.Donot let ur card to over heat bez it will will burn ur card chips and added there is no warenty for buring of chips in electronic accessories.the best supporting 8800gt motherboards are 9 series chipset motherboards.

Re:first, do what guy said and turn of auto-restart. this will let you read the BSOD. the nv4_disp.dll is part of the graphic driver. uninstall the graphic driver, use driver cleaner to get rid of all traces of the driver and then try installing the latest drivers. hopefully this should fix it. if you'd google it, you'd see this was quite a common problem.
BTW, you only have 1.5MB of ram? how does windows even run?
Re:I'm using an antec truepower 550watt and I figured out that its my video card. I sent in my 7900gto for rma and when I took it out I put in my 6200tc and no bsods at all.

Re:You should be able to read more information of the crash when you look into the event viewer. Sometimes, it wil make an entry before it restarts. I would also suggest to turn off your auto restrt function to get more infor mation from the crash.
You can get to this section by right clicking "my computer" then "properties", select the "adcanced" tab. There you will see a button for start up and recovery settings. One of those options is the check ox of "automatically restart", uncheck it.
Re:Same thing happens to me. My computer will give me a Bsod Kmode exception not handled and the nv4_disp.dll file it mentioned. This happens when I play Cnc3 and when I used to play WoW this happened too.
My Specs
A64 3800+x2 stock(2.0)
1 gig Corsair Value Ram ddr400
Epox 9npa+ ultra
Evga 7900gto
250gig hdd Seagate Barracuda
Thus far,I have uninstalled video card drivers, used driver cleaner in safe mode, then installed the latest drivers from nvidia. I've also tried using Registry Booster 2 to clean my registry up but that didn't do anything either.
In DxDiag under the display tab it says "The files nv4_disp.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Harware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer." Even though the drivers I got from nvidia.com say that they're WHQL certified.
If anybody knows a way to fix this or even the cause of this, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks in advance

Re:First thought is to make sure your graphic's drivers are updated, and any others. But if that doesn't solve your problem you need to turn off window's auto-restart after BSODs option, and for the life of me I can't remember how to do that right now.
Re:whoops. Added it into 1st post.
Re:Might be easier for others to help if you list hardware your using.
