admin / October 5th, 2010/ Posted in Computer Help / No Comments »

Q: I recently received an -up consistently for the last 2 days. The POP even up to the opening of Windows Explorer. It does not always pop up when I open up my browser but it looks like its timed. It comes in intervals. I have ZoneAlarm Pro and ZoneAlarm have set the site to block, but it keeps coming up.

I have checked my the Add / Remove Programs to see if there are suspicious apps and there is nothing. I checked under to see whether anything was carried concealed. And still nothing.

It same site each with the same address. Ive never been to this site and I do not know how it got on my system. The address is http://access.rapid-pass.net/?pack=.geu0026login=157680

Is there software or anything else I can do with ZoneAlarm to this site to avoid them whenever I open my browser set.

I haved trying everything and seeing sick of this site. Please help me so upset to see this woman ever stop daily. Thanks in Advance.

Re:Thanks guys for your quick replies. Your the reason why this community is the best. Great people!

Well, the adware fixed everything. Apparently I had some spyware installed that adware got rid of for me. I haven't had a pop up since installing it. Your guys are the best, thanks again!

Re:I can only assume your running win2k/xp. If this is the case, then the messages your getting are from a service that is running in windows. The service is called messenger, and it's not msn messenger. This messenger is built into windows, so the server admin could tell you of impending network issues. By default it is running. If you have an always on connection, that does not have a router in front of it, you will get these messages. Someone figured out they could blast messages on the internet, and anybody with that port listening will see the ad's.

To turn this off, right click on my computer, then choose manage. In the menu, click the services and application menu, then services. Scroll down on the right side, until you see the messenger service, then right click on it, choose properties. Then click the stop button to stop it. Then in the "start up type" menu, choose disabled. Click the apply button and close out of that menu. If this was the cause, you shouldn't see them any more. You might consider getting a router also, this would act as a buffer between you and the internet, adding a layer of protection.

Re:I like Spybot – Search and Destroy (http://security.kolla.de/)

small, free, no bloat. nice program. I run it every week or so, usually very little turns up.

Re:dont' forget to update when you get it ;)

Re:Download AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/) and run it. It's good for cleaning out stuff like that.
