Help Me Choose between two LCD screens! [lcds] [quot]
Q: I plan to one, maybe two of the same monitor. Im a gamer so I need to renew, but colors are also a consideration. There are two that Im pretty set on but Im wondering if anyone has experience with both. They are:

Best Answer: Ok, Get the second sony Vaio with 64bit Vista.
32bit software (aka the usual software for 32bit xp and vista) will still run.
The reason is simple. see that 4GB ram? in 32bit os it will show only 3gig and use only 3gig. 64bit OS can use the full 4GB and more importantly use both processor cores more effectively and it will make you feel like the OS is solid and more stable.

The only problem is. None of those are great machines. If you are going to buy a good machine at $1500. it has to be more than just "style". its like a girl who dresses well and look good but has no brain.
If you want a good machine you may want to look at these two.
HP HDX16t
HP DV7t
Both are slightly over $1000 and are complete V8 Muscle. And even has a decent graphics card. This would be shelby GT500 compared to sony which would be mazda miata.

Re:Nah..PVAs or MVAs under 20" still use the dithering to achieve 16.7M (which is more advanced than the dithering in some TNs that only reaches 16.2M). The case could potentially be different for monitors with adaptive contrast. The dithering is visible if you actually look for it. Otherwise, not so much, kind of like the ghosting dilemma.
I do think you would be more happy with the VP930b. But if you are disappointed with the response time (which I really don't think you will be), don't just assume all LCDs are slow and ghosty. Give the VX922 a try and I'm very sure you won't be turned off by the speed on that thing.

Overall the 930b is a better monitor, and the response time is plenty fast. The price of the VX922 is a bit high at Amazon, while the price of the 930b is quite low. At that low of a price difference, the 930b is the way to go.

Re:i dont really care about response time…i have a dell 1905fp and the response is 20ms….wtv…i barely noticed it in games or if it is on screen and it is just that i didn't notice it, there are nothing that is really bothering me…. and yes the 2025 is a really good monitor, get that one

Re:I read the sticky, some good info there but I wanted a more direct comparison of these two monitors. I also like that 20.1" Viewsonic ws, although I think I want two monitors and having a couple widescreens side by side might be a bit awkward.

Re:For the price on the VP930b, it's the same as the VX2025 which is a bigger 20.1in WS.
It's $329 at Newegg with free shipping so why not just get that. WS is the future.

Re:Ah, I had assumed it was 8 bit–my mistake. To be honest, I'm surpised the question asker hasn't checked out the forum's LCD buying guide sticky post–I have to agree with their recommendation of the samsung 940bf for gaming, but the vx922 isn't far behind it. So I guess I retract my suggestion for the vp930b.

Re:My VP930b is pretty good for gaming. Some dark transitions are slow but these are relatively rare and aren't that bothersome to me. VX922 is only slightly faster overall but doesn't have the dark transitions problem. The VP930b is not a true 8-bit monitor but it has the higher contrast panel, which will reproduce colors better.

Re:I have to disagree with a VX-922 recommendation–the VP930b is an 8 bit panel, the vx922 is a 6 bit panel. VP930b has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the vx922 only 650:1. "Blazing fast 2ms response time" for the VX922 isn't something you'd notice overall in usage compared to 8 ms–12 ms maybe.
930b is the successor to the venerable VP191b, shows full true colours compared to the VX922–Darks are darker, overall, it's a better panel. And obviously a great deal, at 42% off–the original price is an indication of it's overall higher quality.
