Q: I have a D-Link 524 wireless router. I went through all the setup screens fine. However, when restarting the computer, my computer will not communicate with the router (it can not ping). The router will not my computer a good IP address and I can not on the website of the router setup to reconfigure. I have no idea what was wrong with that, because it went through the initial setup without a problem, and then just started not working.

Re:Not to threadjack, but could someone give me a tip on the following:
I've currently got the DI-604. Everything works fine.
I just ordered a laptop (wireless) and the DI-524.
Currently I have cat cable running to my XboX. Could I just take that cat5, hook it up to the DI-524, then run some cat5 from the DI-524 to the xbox, and have wireless for the laptop?

I don't mind keeping the DI-604 the way it is. Just want to know if I can hook the 524 into the 604 and have it not only hardwired to the main pc, but have it wireless for the laptop?
I suppose I can swap them out, but would rather not since the main pc is in a location that would not be conducive for a good wireless signal.

thanks

Re:The first Rule of Wireless Routers.

You have to configure them using a Wire connection.

Re:trust me do it a couple times, HOld for 30, and power cycle for another 30,

set a static ip 192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1

Force the speed of ur card to 10 half

Make sure u have all ur firewalls disabled

go into network connections, right click on local area network make sure there is not brigde connected, if there is u should see "remove from brigde"

if not try another computer,

Trust, i work PT for them if anything that should do it. if not return it..

Re:Did that already, didn't work.

Re:after u setup the router u restarted the computer??
