How can I install XP like Linux? [partition] [linux]
Q: I would like to install XP on its own partition, another partition for home and one for programs. I would like the one for the programs my C:. Is this possible?

Re:I have two WD. Raptors. What I would like is to install the OS on one with a seperate partition for backups and install my applications on the other. Which one do I boot up? Is it worth making the first partition of one of the drives swap files? I have been a raid0 would this setup be better? TIA.

Right click on my computer and choose manage. Under disk management, Right click on an extra partition and choose "change drive letter and paths." In here you can mount the partition within your folder structure, but the folder must be empty. So to mount a partition at C:\Program Files\ you would have to copy everything out of Program Files, mount the partition and then copy the files back (maybe in safe mode?). Otherwise there are registry entries for the paths to special folders such as the documents and settings folder and the program files folder and others – for instance you can change the location of "Program Files" folder from "C:\Program Files" to "D:\hax0r my Ax0r"

instead of moving the folder, right click on the my documents folder and change the target path to a folder on that drive.

Probably, I don't know the specifics though. I haven't done a Windows installation in years.
Re:I'm not even sure you can do it with an "unattended" setup (which is what I assume is meant by automatic). After installation you can use TweakUI to move Docs and Settings, Program Files, and some other common directories to whereever you want.
