Best Answer: Dell sucks. I have 2 XPS-410's and Dell never offers much help when you contact them. yes you do need to run virus scan's every now and then.open start-control panel-then see if security center is there. if not have you tried system restore to a date before this started?if not do so now.if this dont help remove McAfee from the add&remove tool. then reinstall it. this should start it working right again.you can download it from there web site if you dont have the disk. good luck,and you can email me if you need more help.

Re:What kind of DSL router/modem do you have? Some are just DSL modems while others have actual router/ functions built-in.

Also, like was said, you may have Windows XP turned on. (or do you have anything installed like Norton Internet Security or Zonealarm?)
