How do I enable ICS in XP? [cable modem] [nic]
Q: Ok my main system is connected to the cable modem I make sure to share the network connection on which the modem is connected to the network or go to the PC, I connect to the share?
Re:You need to enable ICS on the NIC that the modem is connected to (pardon the atrocious grammar) and make sure that is the only ICS that is enabled, otherwise you're going to run into conflicts galore. If you're talking about a wired ethernet connection just run the network wizard on the computer with the internet connection and let Windows determine the connections, then run it on the client computer. Windows will bridge the connections for you, just make sure to go back in and turn the XP firewall off

Re:I know a router is much better I will talk to her tomorrow. But untill I can find a deal or something can someone confirm which nic needs to have share connection enabled?
Her second PC is coming tomorrow and I would kind of like to know ahead of time.
Thanks
Re:Its buggy and only seems to work when it wants to. Do her a favor and watch the hot deals/forsale forum and you should be able to find one for $30-35 shipped.
Re:I got a router. My sister is wanting to connect her 2 computers together and doesnt want to spend much. Figured ICS would be the best way to go since she only has 2 computers and not 3 or more.
Whats so bad about it other than the main system that has the connection has to be on? Which it stays on all day.
Re:I'm guessing the nic that connects to the computer you wish to share it with. You will probably grow to hate ICS and want to get a simple cheap wired router. Thank me later for that suggestion:)
btw, please use comas so we can read what you type a little eaiser otherwise it's just one long sentence
