How to let others browse my network on the net? [file server]

Q: I want to be able to a select few of my friends give access to my via a net connection, there is a program I can get (without spending $ $ $) that allow them to be that do?


Best Answer: Get an Apple Airport. You can have a network through hard wire and wireless, at least that is how it works on my network.

Another thing you could do is set up a VPN that they log in to and then they could mount your sharud drives as network shares … but that can get complicated


Re:I'd just setup something like GuildFTPD (http://www.guildftpd.com/), it's simple, and it'll allow you to share files easily.

Re:Setup IIS and/or FTP Server. Port fowarding on your router for the port 21 for ftp and 80 for HTTP.
