I have a 1680×1050 monitor that the Xbox 360 and PS3 will see the correct aspect ratio = / [correct aspect ratio] [hp w2007 monitor]
Q: (If you recognize this message, you may have seen over at Hard Forum. Sorry, I just need some answers and the best way to reach many people) recently bought an HP w2007
I monitor. The native res is 1680×1050 (so its 16:10 aspect ratio) 0.
I hooked my Xbox 360 via the official Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA cable. It looks nice, with the exception of the 16:9 image is stretched to 4:10 p.m. screen to fill. Although this monitor has a “fill to aspect ratio” option, then the image will not display correctly.
Ive read that the comparable HP w2207 monitor will not display PS3 stuff to work properly, (via DVI to HDMI), so I believe that it will not be displayed correctly either Xbox 360 stuff (and I have a monitor that shows both correctly anyway) 0.
I with one of an HP w2408 (1920×1600 at 4:10 p.m. ratio) screen that makes Xbox 360 and PS3 images correctly, with black bars at the top and bottom. But, Im planning to use my monitor for PC games, too, and my computer will chug through rendering at such a high resolution . but I think it will look better since the pixels will be mapped out perfectly for 360 and PS3 (1920×1080 image projected on a 1920×1600 monitor). Also, the HP w2408 has a 1:1 pixel mapping option . , but I think it also works to fill Aspect Ratio. Weird.
Still, 1680×1050 monitors are there that the Xbox 360 and PS3 games will be on the right screen 16:9 aspect ratio?
Thanks for reading.

I recently purchased an HP w2007 monitor. Its native res is 1680×1050 (so it's 16:10 aspect ratio).
I hooked my Xbox 360 to it via the official Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA cable. It looks nice, except the 16:9 image is stretched out to fill the 16:10 screen. Even though this monitor has a "fill to aspect ratio" option, it still will not display the image correctly.
I've read that the similar HP w2207 monitor will not display PS3 stuff properly either (via HDMI to DVI), so I assume that it won't display Xbox 360 stuff correctly either (and I need a monitor that shows both correctly anyway).
I have talked to someone who has an HP w2408 (1920×1600 at 16:10 ratio) that does display Xbox 360 and PS3 images correctly, with black bars on the top and bottom. But, I plan to use my monitor for PC games, too, and I don't want my computer to chug through rendering at such a high resolution… but I guess it will look better though since the pixels will be mapped perfectly for 360 and PS3 (1920×1080 image mapped onto a 1920×1600 monitor). Also, the HP w2408 has a 1:1 pixel mapping option… but I think it Fill to Aspect Ratio works too. Weird.
Still, are there any 1680×1050 monitors that will display Xbox 360 and PS3 16:9 games at the correct aspect ratio?
Thanks for reading.
it is 1920×1200, not x1600.
Also, get a 4850/4870/GTX 260/280 in a couple of weeks and that resolution would be peanuts… wait no, it will be BEAUTIFUL peanuts.
Re:i own a gateway fpd…22 inch monitor(couldnt remember the model). It actually has component inputs on it and can be used as a tv. You can also manually adjust the aspect ratio. I like it. Also has DVI and VGA input.

Ohh.
My Xbox 360 is an older one that doesn't have an HDMI port. But, I could try using a VGA to DVI adapter and thus plugging it into the monitor's DVI port… not sure if that would scale properly. An old ATI card of mine came with a DVI (analog one, I think) to VGA adapter. The pins are different enough so that they don't fit in this monitor's DVI-D port, amazingly.
I guess the Gateway should be able to scale with VGA connection as well, haven't tried it yet.
I know this is a little late, but my dell 2007WFP scales perfectly (can either set 1:1 or black lines on the sides) – honestly, i can't tell the difference between it being slightly scaled up (from 720p to 1680×1050) and 1:1 (black box around the image which happens to be centered).
No noticible input lag in even FPS – I believe this specific revision (A04 – S-IPS) is about 6ms (while its rated at 12ms).
Re:Okay, my final purchase, I think, is an LG Flatron 246WP-BN. 24 inches, 1920×1200 (but I can play games at 1680×1050 at 1:1 pixel mapping and it looks great and is not too small at all), P-MVA, no noticeable input lag (it's on average 22 ms I believe), 8 ms, scales everything I need accurately (has 1:1 pixel mapping). Great viewing angles, but not super perfect, it seems, but it's really much better than TN viewing anlges in my opinion and I don't think I will be annoyed with viewing angles anymore. No banding on gradients, I think, unless on gradients where there is supposed to be banding. HDMI, VGA, Component. Rotates 90 degrees, height adjustable stand, tilts, and swivels like a "lazy susan."
Thanks for the help, everybody!
Re:Thanks a lot for the help so far, guys.
Okay, so I'm thinking of getting either a Gateway HD2200 or a Dell SP2208WFP.
The Gateway HD2200's online manual http://support.gateway.com/s/M…s/Monitors/8512500.pdf (http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals/Monitors/8512500.pdf) describes the scaling options. They look weird. Looks like my only hope for 16:9 undistorted with black bars would be "Wide Mode" and "1:1 Mode." The description for Wide Mode is odd… it says that "Widescreen (1.76:1) images fill the entire screen without distortion." Is this some typo? Wikipedia says that 16:9 is considered 1.78:1. And how could such an image fill the entire screen without distortion? The monitor is 16:10. It mentions that other widescreen formats will have black bars…
The Dell SP2208WFP has a lot of scaling options, so it seems like a safe bet. But, I've heard people reporting problems on it on the Dell Forum, and on the reviews for it on the product page. The text is blurry, splotchy, and pixelated, unless you fiddle with the settings… but this involves lowering the RGB values… will this give a loss of color? The monitor is supposed to have a 92% color gamut, and I'm not sure if that's just some crazy gimmick that's causing the weird factory setting and the blurred/pixelated text.
Re:Hey, would a Dell 2007WFP scale properly for Xbox 360 and PS3?
I heard that there was a color banding problem, but in revisions they fixed it in Desktop mode. Can I use a 360 and PS3 on the 2007WFP in Desktop mode, and will it still scale properly?

Re:There was a sceptre that had onboard options for scaling. I think it was kind of a junky monitor otherwise though and I'm not sure if they even still sell the model.
