I think my network up mess? (Net fixed):) [home ed] [printer sharing]

Q: I have 3 computer all running Win XP (Pro and two on one in the house, etc.) I keep on changing the ip add. and somehow in the end, not the other computer anymore. all to enable file and , guest user off and all have no password. but funny is that when I return to the house, etc., and resetting the network, it works finally. My question is, do I need to reformat the computer or another is around? I tried snetwork wizard, and all are automatic ip add. Assign. I have firewall, but I set the network to operate

Re:i found out part of the problem, it's fixed:D

Re:hey, thanks it solve some of the problem but now i have to deal with password.
my main computer , i disable the mac brigde and so does my other computer. now i can access, see and transfer file to and fro but the "other" computer sees the main computer but whenever i double click the c: drive, it ask for a password and the username is set as "computername"/guest <- this is greyed out and i remember i didn't put any password on any of my file or folder even any drives from the very beginning

1) can every computer ping every other computer?
2) Is netbios over TCP enabled in the network control panel of every computer
3) Are workgroups the same for all computers?
4) Can you view a list of shares on a computer by typing \\<ip address>
5) Can you view a list of shares on a computer by typing \\computername

1. how do you do that on win xp?
2. yes
3. yes
4. and 5. we can share file only thru "my shared folder" but other than that it give me the message of access denied need password which we didn't put it

Re:Reformatting a Hard drive has nothing to do with Network.

People who have little knowledge of Networking (and after multiple use of the Network Wizard) end up with settings far away from default, and thus unable to get to the correct settings. Some times few Networks related files get trashed too.

By reloading the OS every thing gets back to default.

So it is anybody calls, Learn Networking. Or spend you time reformatting.
