Is a variant of Linux support for USB hot-swap? [support usb] [linux]
Q: Is a variant of Linux support for USB hot swapping?
Best Answer: I don’t think that’s possible, try updating the BIOS that might make it bootable.
If not, use a live CD instead.
Re:If what you want (you don't really say) is a second mouse on USB for X, like for a laptop, just add another Input Device stanza to XF86Config. The "always-on" pointer (like a laptop touchpad) should have the "CorePointer" option, and the "removeable" pointer uses the "SendCoreEvents" option. I don't think the kernel hotplug stuff is necessary at all, as long as the modules auto-load if necessary.
Re:X and the kernel both handle usb hot swap great for me.
Re:The kernel should handle the swaps just fine, I don't know about X though.

Yes, I believe some do.
how appropriately vague
I followed the example of the original poster. Very much appropriate.

Re:Mandrake 9.1 does a pretty good job of it; my USB key works beautifully on it
Re:All of them should hande USB hotswaps just fine.
If you mean automatically mounting/umount of things like disk-on-key, that I'm not sure about.
