Is anyone using Windows 2000 with a Diamond Monster Sound MX300 [monster sound mx400] [mail]

Q: Ive sent e- to Diamond or S3, depending on your preference. Anyways, I sent the because OUT2 jack on my sound card is u0026quot; fuzzy. u0026quot, Meaning It makes the fuzz sound . Anyway they tell me they are aware. So I ask if they will ever have a solution, the answer I get is that u0026quot, we recommend upgrading to a more current products, such as the . u0026quot; Has anyone else this problem or a workaround?

Re:www.vortexofsound.com (http://www.vortexofsound.com)
Microsoft and Diamond both know that out2 is fuzzy. They also know that bass response is not as good as it should be. Both recommend using reference drivers. I wish I had links to back these up, but I don't feel like searching through microsoft's site.
I used the default drivers on my computer w/abit mobo and it was ok. It was very obvious that there was static when I recorded to my MD. After installing the reference drivers, static was gone. The volume seemed louder too, especially for out2. I've been told it's because the bass has been restored. I have no problems now.
I popped the sound card into another computer w/asus mobo and am having problems like boLbim33 described. After 2 or 3 songs in winamp, WMP, or RealPlayer, the computer will freeze or go silent. I have a feeling some other card is conflicting or the drivers don't like Asus. Some asus users say there are problems w/the sound card, but I haven't read what the fix is. I'll keep u guys informed.

edit: Just found Diamond's site about the MX300 and win2k: http://www.diamondmm.com/default.asp?menu=support&sub_menu=win2k_stuff&item =audio

Re:Those drivers fixed the static for me. Maybe try to reinstall them again?

Re:ok..think my prob is fixed now, but i'm getting the static problem now. Problem after problem. GOt any suggestions for that??

Re:ok..i'll try that. thanks!

Re:My suggestion is to get the new drivers… you are using an MX300 i presume, get this file WDM5_10_2500_49 and also WDM_install.
Be sure to follow the directions, they are written pretty well. If the files you look for are missing, consider that step already done…
Hope this helps you

Re:i dont' get static. My comp just freezes whenever i play sound from winamp or windows media player

Re:The win2k default drivers have a very static ridden OUT2 port… which i have my headphones plugged into and that just worsens the problem (static right in your ear) The link I gave will send you to Aureal's website with vortex2 drivers which successfully got rid of the static for me. But now my winamp has problems. ALthough Windows Media Player works fine!

Re:what happened to the w2k default drivers? those didnt' work for you? Will the link u gave work?

Re:http://downloads.aureal.com/pub/Public/Drivers/Vortex
The link for the 2k ones start with WDM5 … I'm still having trouble with them.. down with S3! :D

Re:ok…so where are the w2k drivers?? I can't seem to get to them! This is pretty helpful. I was having a lot of trouble with my card but it seems like other people are too.

Re:Thank you people for your help. I located the beta win2k drivers, installed them and no more static on my headphones. The roommate will be happy… don't have to use my speakers while he is trying to study :)

Re:I have no problem with my card. Currently using the default driver from Windows 2000. Everything is clear and perfect.

Re:I am using the drivers that came with win2k and I have my speakers plugged into OUT1 and my headphones into OUT2. OUT2 is fuzzy. I emailed S3/Diamond and they were well aware of it, but thought I should upgrade to an MX400. But screw that if I upgrade I'll go with Creative this time, like I guess I should have to begin with :)

Re:i'm using the default drivers w2k has and they work fine

Re:I cannot find win2k drivers for this anywhere.. can someone help?

Re:Would you mind linking me to the drivers?

I think I got them I'll reboot and find out :)

Okay maybe I installed these drivers wrong. Can you please link me to the instructions and drivers? support.aureal.com is not working for me.

Re:I'm using the OUT2 on my MX300 under Windows 2000. I use it because it amplifies headphone output, and it works perfectly well. I'm using Aureal reference drivers for W2K, installed per their special instructions.

Re:I use the beta Aureal ref. drivers with no problems like you describe. Granted, the A3D isn't great, but I don't do a wohle lot of gaming at the moment, and I still boot Win98 for those times when I want to use A3D.

Re:Hmmmm, I didn't notice that problem with my MX300. But I can add that to the list of reasons why I switched back to Win 98SE from Win 2k.
