Is it possible to keep an emulator slows like crazy? [zsnes] [super nintendo]
Q: I played Gradius III ZSNES and when a lot of things on the screen the game slows down terribly. This game was notorius for doing this on the SNES, and when I play it on SNES is the same in similar situations, there is an option that I can change that can help the game to keep from lagging so much, I hoped a emulator would delay less than my Super Nintendo would do. Thank you.

Yeah, my friend Joe told me about that, he tried playing some old games on his A64 3700+ and they were way too fast to play, how did they solve that problem?
Again, with an emulator.
You can get programs that will emulate Windows95 with a Pentium 100. And DOSBox is supposed to be really good for old DOS games.
Interestingly enough, if you have the original Duke3D disc, you can install it and then find a Win32 executable for the game. Just copy it into the install directory and run.
You can bump up the resolution really high too!

Nope. It emulates the Snes exactly. This includes its limitations. Like other folks have said, the speed of the game was dependant on the speed of the processor, so if you up the emulator processor the game will be unplayable.
Many DOS games were like this too.
Try playing Mechwarrior on a Pentium.

Re:The emulator tries to reproduce the game exactly as it was on the SNES, so you will get it with bugs and all. In those days they used processor cycles as a timer, so even if you could speed up the emulator Mhz, it would make the game too fast to play.
Re:I don't think so – unless the emulator has an option to increase the emulated MHz (which might cause other problems).
