Is there a good free anti-virus soft there? [free anti virus] [new waves]

guys the new wave of viruses I have many friends asked me to help and I was wondering if there is a good free Aviré I could recommend them to let me use

Im talking virus coming in via e-mail not spam
didnt you read the news ? its everywhere and all good avirs catch these things when they come in

I just started using AVG antivirus free edition two months ago…its great…they update their def's all the time, and its not a horrible resource hog like norton or mcafee…a great program, especially for free!
did it catch any of those "test" and so on e-mails ??

i have it on my gfs computer and she did her own scan last night and it wiped out 6 viruses, so she says.
well Im test driving it now on my machine, seems to be a bit off 
it has the mail scan on but it didnt catch any of the recent e-mail viruses
