Is there a good index to search app for Linux? [google] [desktop search]
Q: Hi guys,
I use both Linux and Windows, Linux as my favorite course:). I recently installed Google Desktop Search in Windows. I grew to like the speed of results. Is there an app or a program that allows you to search the index in Linux as good as google and spotlight do.
In case you did not know Google Desktop Search and Spotlight searches within a variety of file formats. Here is a link:

I can't think of anything like what he wants, mostly because the standard solution is organization and descriptive file names. Most of us are still scratching our heads over this entire "desktop search" phenomenon, because we see no use for it.
