Is there a way to ping an IP address range in a LAN? [ip address range] [correct ports]
Q: Just added a Vonage modem to the network, but I must know the IP, so I can FWD the appropriate ports.

If you have nmap it will do that as well.
I can't believe it took this long for someone to suggest nmap… its great
Re:I'd start by finding filmaker.com and seeing where it lives. Have you ever used HijackThis from http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ ? I'd start with that and see if you can find what malware you are carrying around with you.

I guess they think you have a Trojan, I'm not familiar with the name. However, unless you're running something specific that uses port 5000, I'd suggest that doesn't really belong there.
I really don't understand how to get rid of it, could you please explain?
Re:I clicked on the link for you, did you get it?

Re:eh…can you click the link for me? I'm a bit lazy…lol
Re:I am the lazy sort, thanks for the link.

Perhaps a URL would have made this post more useful…

IP Tools is a great app for IP scans and other tools to play around with.

Cruise to <a href="http://www.foundstone.com">www.foundstone.com</A> (http://www.foundstone.com">www.foundstone.com</A>) and pick up their free IP scanner.
I used the program here and when I ran it I got this as the result. (http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/guy/123.JPG)What does the cicled part mean? Do I have a trojan?
Re:The program you will want to use is Angry IP Scanner (http://www.angryziber.com/ipscan/). It's free, small, and works great – use it all the time at work.

Re:You could write a script to do it. pick your language, something along the lines of this. (don't use this as code, it is just basic syntax example…)
for (n = 1; n <= 255, n++) {
$output = ping 192.168.1.n;
print $output;
}
Re:There's a bunch of freeware programs that will ping a range of IPs and report back the ones that are alive. Search download.com for Angry, I use it all the time.
Re:Nah there's nothing that shows that unfortunately. I have/had an old D-Link.
Re:Holy crap! Doing that just changed my public ip address…which never happened before in the last 3 years. Interesting. The Vonage box acts as a NAT so I just replaced the ol' D-Link with it. Maybe that has something to do with it. This thing has some of the most barebones features I've seen….
