Is there a way to tell what someone is looking at web pages on my computer? [tools internet] [internet options]
Q: Even if they go to Tools, Internet Options, and delete all files and clear history?
Is something else in Windows that controls what is browsed?
So say when I go to some Web pages and then delete files and erase history, all traces of this Web site gone forever?
Best Answer: Some of your concerns can be addressed if you do some research and learn how to turn OFF certain features that are set up on your computer, your browsers, other defaults that different programs use to make your PC experience easier.
You can set up your computer to NOT remember any of the data you enter into FORMS when you are buying online or whatever and enter personal information such as name, address, phone number, city, zip codes, etc…
All browsing history, user ids, passwords, etc… can be set up to NOT be saved at the end of your session, or, even be saved.
Do some research on browser settings (tools, options, etc.) and learn how to shut off some of those features you're concerned about…
Good luck!
Re:Open windows guylorer scroll down to the Windows folder guyand it. Scroll down to temporary internet foders guyand it. Expand content.IE5. In this folder there are a number of folders which start with things like 44w9u3er open these folders and you'll see txt documents that look like this bob@usatoday.com. The first part tells you who visited the site assuming you have a user account created for each person that uses your machine. The last part of text is the address that has been visited if you right click and choose properties you can see the time and date the site was visited.
Re:keep the pr0n away from the parents huh?LOL
Try searching for *.jpg, *.gif, etc. under the Start/Find/Files menu and deleting any offending parties. That should help some.
Re:You could set IE to use 0mb of space for temp internet files. Then set it to keep 0 days inside it's history.
Re:LOL, well how many directories are there in the windows directory where cookies are kept?
How do I access the history in the registry?
Is there an article or something that gives directions for covering up tracks?:)

It is very tough to do it manually. There are numerous directories in the Windows directory where the history, cookies are kept. Some of the history is also kept in the registry.
