Is there anything better than T-Mobile / Starbucks WiFi for commercial Internet access? [free wifi] [cbeyond]
Q: The nearest Starbucks is almost 40 miles round trip. I would pay $ 29 for up to 500MB! What is a good access to a T1 if you are still limited to 500MB? i / expressions / rolleye.gif For $ 800 I could my own T1 with 5 lines of VoIP phone cBeyond .
I say “commercial” because they have a larger coverage area and I could fill in some of the differences with known free WiFi networks:)
Re:I'm too far away from Atlanta to benefit from anything wireless other than the TV and Radio stations
Atlanta doesn't seem to be a hotbed of free wireless groups anyway
There is supposedly a Boingo Wireless AP in Peachtree City just past Starbucks, but I couldn't find it. I need a card with a damn antenna! Why doe that @@#!ing place get two public commercial APs and Newnan gets none?!
Re:i'm not sure which city you're in…
but here in nyc… there are lots of places with free wifi network.
www.nycwireless.net
i've been pretty happy with it… so far… though i've only found one cafe where it's set up.
84th and lexington.
if i were a cafe owner, i'd definately invest that $40/mo to give free wifi access to my customers.
Re:Yeah! What good is unlimited access to a full/non-fractional T1 if you can't stream a few videos or download a single linux ISO?
Re:damm… i always thought it was 30 for unlimited.
damm… starbucks.
damm t-mobile.

Re:They call the $30 plan unlimited because you are not charged by the minute, but their FAQ explicitly states a $0.29 charge per minute for all plans after 500MB. Crap
Re:Starbucks charges $30 / 500mb? I"ve been wondering what they charge, but I don't think I"d ever use it since I have broadband.
