Updated system specs

P4 Williamette 1.7GHZ
-E
Audigy
256MB Rambus
AGP aperature @ 128MB
Radeon8500
WinXP
Driver version 6015

Can someone help me? This is MOHAA OpenGL. Glitches similar to those found in Aquanox.

Best Answer: ATI's driver and card management software sucks. So does the stock heat sink and thermal paste ATI uses.

After getting the fan tool mentioned in the first post, get yourself a solid copper cooler with a big fan and some Arctic Ceramique thermal paste.

Re:Driver version 6015

Those drivers have known problems with MOHAA. Upgrade to the 6052s.

Also make sure you have the latest game patches for both games.

Re:I did have a problem like that – in any game, such as Max Payne or in 3d Mark 2001 I'd get little glitches, like as if all the textures weren't fitting together properly. Sometimes 3D Mark just wouldn't run at all! I took my motherboard out of the case, and ran the computer on a shoe-box (!) and the glitches went away as the video card ran much cooler.

The motherboard is in getting fixed now, and I'll hopefully have it back next week when I can test it out again.

Si.

Re:I've noticed a *like* it that went away after a driver update. But i've asked this question six different times and so far only 2 people replied. is it just that nobody wants to help or nobody can?
I'll check on the cold boot thing in a few minutes..
but it seems like the memory aint that hot. Certianley not hot enough to cause glitches like this.

Appendage:one time I overclocked this card from 250/250 to 275/275 for 3 minutes. Could that cause problems?

Re:guy, here comes an obvious question, but do you have this "" after the computer has been on for a while, or even upon a cold boot, the "" is apparent. Also, even though you have a nice setup, it may be possible that a program running in the background may be the cause. Hope this helps :)
