Just a new motherboard installed [masters and slaves] [last known good configuration]
Q: It seems real and everything, I can access the BIOS and stuff like that. But the first screen when I turn it on when it controls the masters and slaves, then you press F1 to cont union DEL for setup. Anyways, so I will hit F1 to continue and that the screen comes up, the only thing nomrlally comes when you mess up your computer or somthing. You can choose to boot in safe mode with networking or not, if boot in DOS mode, boot with last known good configuration, or boot Windows normally. Well, no whatever option I choose, the computer just reboots and starts the loop again. Not sure what to do here.
Best Answer: I dont think you have to, i installed ram at a time and it didnt need a reformat..
Just install new MB, put the MB driver disk in and let it shine.
It might need to reboot or reformat, if so, copy all essentials or image the HDD onto another HDD and reformat. ![]()
Re:You need to do a REPAIR install of WindowsXP any time you swap mobos with different chipsets.
You won't lose any programs: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
Re:Its not booting from my CD, it seems to want a floppy disk. I'm pretty sure everything is in right order, I need to fiddle with it more maybe-but I have to goto work soon.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got this thing working. I should beable to figure everything else out on my own. Thanks guys.
Re:Yes, you most definetly need to reinstall your OS. Set your CD to be your first boot device in your bios. Then put your Windows CD in and it should boot to that…then just follow the directions.
Re:I'm not sure how to install windows from the BIOS, or startup, whatever you want to call it. I'm pretty new at this and somone else installed it for me last time.
Re:Yeah, reinstall Windows.

Re:Its a different chipset. My last one was ICH5 this one is a SiS somthing.
Re:Is it the same chipset on this motherboard as the last one you had?? If not, windows is pretty finicky about different chipsets..
Re:reinstalling Windows sounds like a good choice.
