LCD or Plasma HDTV – What would you prefer and why? [technologies lcd] [hdtv]

Q: I am looking to buy one in about one year, so Im with the investigation now. No technology seems to be overly dominant, although it seems that the plasma is moving faster (bigger picture available, etc) .

Any thoughts on these technologies?

I'm looking for something 32-40 inches and that can hang on a wall (4" depth or less). I'm willing to entertain projectors but I have no clue about this technology — do you shine it on a white wall?

Well you can shine them on a white wall but getting a screen would be preferable however they are expensive so I would personally make my own. Check out
DIY Projectors (http://www.diyprojectors.com/) Last time I was there they had an article on how to build yourself a screen for the projectors.

Re:Well, no one currently makes a 32-40" LCD panel. The largest is the 30" Sharp.

If you have good light control, a front projection unit would work, but if you don't, go plasma.

Re:45" LCD (http://www.prodcat.panasonic.com/shop/NewDesign/ModelTemplate.asp?ModelId=15567&show_all=false&product_exists=True&active=1&ModelNo=PT-45LC12&CategoryId=2915)

edit: & DLP are still too new and too expensive… give them a few years before you buy a good one.

Re:DLP projector

LCD's are too small, plasmas look like ass up close

Re:Are you talking LCD rear projection TV's (ie. Sony Grand WEGA and Panasonic PT-4xLC12) or LCD panel's (ie. Sharp Aquos LC-30HV2V)?

Re:Hmm…just guessing here, but there ain't no 50 inch LCDs on the market. But I would also guess that Plasma is nowhere near the resolution to LCDs. Someone correct me on these if I am grossly mistaken.

Re:i was always under the impression that they were the same thing…. but i guess not :)
