Legit sites will be redirected to localhost . reading [ipconfig flushdns] [host file]
Q: A PC I can not get into some good legit sites like www.symantec.com or trendmicro.com with lots others.
I looked at the host file and it looks normal.
I ran . . . Ipconfig / displaydns, and I saw the list of sites will be redirected to 127.0.0.1
of course ipconfig / flushdns not help
Now . someone please tell me how this adverisity.

Re:Sry. I have already tried this and the host file looks like a normal clean host file.
Re:Check the HOSTS file in WinXP under Windows/system32/drivers/etc – open it with a text editor but do not save it as text file. Some of these sites may have been inadvertently entered + I have seen some computers (this week) with the file corrupted by a GAOBOT virus which adds all known AV sites to that list – Norton AV doesnt always catch it.
