LG 24x CD-RW – burns so slow! [rw burns] [minute music]
Q: already posted in general hardware, but no solutions, only sympathy:
I just one and after reading good reviews, I have good things expected for the replacement of my trusty Sony 10x speed . However, this thing takes forever to burn anything! I just sat here and watched it 11 minutes to take a 75 minutes music CD burning. Said the estimated time 4 minutes too.
As I type, it is about 8 minutes to take a 633mb disc can copy data from my LiteOn 40x drive, I heard big cracks speeds . said if the estimated time 2:50.
So one of you owners out there have the same problem or am I a lemon? I use Verbatim 40x blank CDs (the blue AT u0026 T label), and writing on 24x with burn proof on.
It s running as a slave to my Lite-On 16x DVD too, but my old Sony 10x ran as slave . my dvd-rom in the Ultra DMA mode, and the CD-RW DMA mode. The drive is suppose to run in Ultra DMA or DMA mode? Maybe its my media?

Re:need more help….i used nero to test this drive and it's telling me my burst rate is 1mb/s….something wrong there? also, my burning speed seems to be limited to 7x-9x but no higher. This drive eats up a whole lot of cpu utilization also! arg..i'm beginning to dislike LG drives…

Re:i've tried copying from CD AND writing wav files off the hard drive.
Copying a 633mb CD took about 8 minutes! Burning a 70-minute music cd took 11 minutes!

the burner burns cd's fine, but it's just really slow…any suggestions?

If it is the same place I found on google, there are no firmware updates.

Re:I was going to say check for DMA in the Device Manger but it may be a bad lemon, try another manufacture for CD-R's. But could be bad CD-RW.
