Q: Hi,

I was att @ home for the past three months with Linksys 4- and everything works fine until yesterday. I can not get any connection via a router to the computer that is connected to it.

I called @ home support and they told me straight away to get my router and connect your PC to the cable modem and it works fine. They told me @ home does not work through the router more than one PC, I have to go to a different IP address for each additional PC to get.

After ending the conversation, I tried using the router and did not try succeed.

I resetting the router and enter the information again and checked them carefully. By looking at the router setup proved to be correct IP information from the cable modem and display the correct IP / gateway / dns etc. However, computers connected to the router can not access the web I all.
If Linking your PC directly to the modem, it works, but not through the router. I tried disabling the DHCP in the router setup and it did not know if anyone help.

Does @ home technology to broadcast block PCs via a router to it?
How do I know if the router is causing the problem?

I just returned from the rented cable modem and save a few dollars off the monthly bill and I was wondering if there was any connection .:(

Thanks.

Best Answer: It sounds like you didn't read the manual for your .

Dig it out of the corner and take it out of the protective plastic that was never opened and read it to learn how to set up your other computers on your network — preferably before your parents find out and ground you for a month.

If you lost the user manual, then go to the Linksys web site and download the PDF version and read it.

Re:A big thanks to everyone who helped
:)

I got it working by changing the LAN IP in the router setup from 192.168.1.1
to something different and it works.

Now the question is: why did it work?

Re:I had that same problem as you. I have the SMC Barricade router. When I called SMC tech support, the guy said to disable ZoneAlarm. He said that there was no need for ZoneAlarm because the Barricade already had a firewall. I still use it though. Anyway, try disabling ZoneAlarm. I would also try guy's idea, it works for me.

Re:Yeah I agree that @home is giving you the runaround. Mine has worked flawlessly. I agreee with turbo in trying to reset to set it back to factory defaults. Also if you are using WinXP go to the network tab and try repairing. That's usually what what I try first. Also try rebooting the modem, router and pc's in that order.

Re:athome is BSing you, to them you are using 1 ip address, the router translates that into multiple addresses, it is transparent to them. I would reset the router, see if that helps. If not, go through all the settings and make sure nothing has changed, check DHCP settings especially, make sure you computers are getting their addresses.

Re:Try cloning your PC's NIC's MAC address on the router, that way they won't know you switched it.

Re:My @home connection works through a router. Try obtaining a new router and see if that works. It may quite possibly be a router problem.

Re:According to zoneAlarm, the DNS server of @home has been trying to access my PC from increasing port number,
is it scanning for something? it has about 50 alerts for 90 mins and keep on coming
can anyone help?
thanks.
