Low FPS in The Chronicles of Riddick – Escape From Butcher Bay? [riddick escape from butcher bay] [chronicles of riddick escape from butcher bay]
Q: Im getting around 25-30 avg at 1280 x 1024, everything on max on a P4 3.0GHz 2gigs ddr2 pc4200 7800GT @ 495/1.15 250GB PQI 3338 hd.
why I get such low FPS?
Re:AMD's are better, that's known, but of course your framerate won't jump into the 80's because of 'em…
Re:AMD processor's were not made for gaming… they are made for the same purpose as Intel processors…
Re:Easy, tiger. The kid is just making a simple interpretation of happens to be somewhat true. Though AMD's higher cache(well that was the case with the Athlond XPs compared to the Celerons at the time), shorter pipeline, and integrated memory controller are not necessarily made for gaming, but they do handle it better, and until FX60 came about, Intel was better at media applications primarily because of the deep pipeline. So be nice to the new member, please.
On the issue at hand, you would definitely see some improvement by moving to a faster CPU, whether Intel or AMD, but as suggested earlier, the control panel seems to be your best(cheapest) option, or increase your resolution and decrease AA/AF which should decrease the dependancy on your CPU, since your GPU is rather high end, while your CPU is mid range.
Re:That's misinformation. If not a downright lie to spread FUD. At the very least, know something about what you're talking about before speaking.
Re:woops, sorry bout that last post. OK first off, your problem probably lies in your CPU.
When pentiums were out the main thought was Multitasking, thats why they made it,
its not exactly made for gaming, tho on some games it rocks.
my father in law has the Pentium 4 3.5 with 2 gg of ram. you know an AMD 2.0 equals up to a pentium 4 3.5?
AMD is a chip made for gaming, so altho pentiums are great chips for processing video and pictures and that sort,
it doesnt do jack for games and barely give video/audio cards any extra support.
AMD was made for that, so buy an AMD and youll get that great 80 FPS and above
Re:Check the game's benchmark folder for instructions.
Re:Thanks guys! how do i use the game for a benchmark?

I believe that enabling the higher shader option kills performance quite a bit too. I forget the exact option, but I believe there was a 2.0+ option that you should try disabling, even with your high end hardware.
Yep, knock it down from 2.0++ to 2.0 and it will fix your problem, I had the same thing.
