Maxtor 120GB external hd is inside a regular HD? [maxtor 120gb] [maxtor]

Q: Is external 120GB HD in a regular HD? If so I wonder if it would work only an internal one for an xbox like. Anyway, how do I take apart and is it difficult?

Best Answer: If you hooked in your external hard drive:

1. Double click 'My Computer'

2. Check out the drive letters showing.

C: = Main Hard Drive Partition where your operating system is.

D: = a. Backup partition where the factory reset is.
b. Your External Hard Drive
NOTE: Right click and pick properties to see what space is on the drive and what is used and what is free.

E: = Your CD or DVD drive

Computers show hard drives first and then optical drives second by nature. Put a data disc in your dvd/cd drive to insure it shows up and identifies itself.

Re:73$$$ out the door and $$55 after rebate

Re:I just wonder why buy an external hard drive to put inside a system? Internal hard drives are always cheaper (at least that I have seen). Unless you got a good deal. I guess it just seems kinda a waste to me…

Re:If you look at the ends of the case all you need is a flat head screw driver to stick in the little slots to pop off the side brackets. The top then comes right off. VERY SIMPLE

So they definately work outside of the case, but what's the best way to get them out without damaging the case?

No screws?

Re:It is a regular hard drive. I got in on the 40gb firewire drive deal awhile back and just removed the drive. Same, normal drive that you would buy in the store.

I'm pretty sure they are but don't quote me on that.
