Maxtor 300GB SATA drive (16MB) problems . [samurize] [computer processing]
Q: So the drive worked fine . 13gb mp3, movies, games, etc. Then I had my computer to move from Austin to Dallas for the summer. While I had to firmly press the HDD into the mounting rails in a Sonata.
Now that all setup again, the hard disk can be seen on Samurize as “Disconnected”. Attempt to browse through the Explorer and results in a looong break (not responding). I let the computer process, while I ate dinner tonight and returned to see “Drive G: is not formatted, do you want to format?”. WTF!
I thought it might be the SATA cable with a crimp in her moving to, so I switched cables. No luck. What else could it be?! When I put my hand on the drive is noticably hot and spinning, and there is the occasional bump or a more defined set of shocks. No noise associated with these bumps though.
My HDD activity light is solid without anything running. Can a virus is caused by all this? I doubt I have a virus, because he did not do this before I left.
Any help is appreciated.
Best Answer: if u have another pc go to mainpage of you motherboard and look is supports your graohic card… if not **** it and leave it

Re:Double check your drivers and make sure youre using the proper sata ports. Some MB's use a variation of sata controllers.

I'll try a reinstall first, as I was planning on doing that anyway. But if that doesn't work, I know I have an RMA to look forward to.

Re:I was hoping to reinstall windows using the 300gb HDD as a backup … and I'm not even sure that it would work after reinstalling windows. I used the second SATA socket on the mobo,and it still is screwed up.

Try booting with a Knoppix CD and see if you can do stuff with it.
