Q: Ive reinstalled, ran and everything is good there .

Still defragged, SCANDISK every time. Through scan setting. I cannot get the setttings to keep the scan disk when I try to manually configure, it will not go for the quick scan (at least) to restart.

The recent problem, and consistent.

I tried the Microsoft IDE 2 seconds delay in the patch that appears close to this address without joy.

ME on Athlon 1000 / , Global FOP-32, 384 mg Muskin Rev2, 30g WD HDD, SBLive, 3D Power Pro 64.

Thanks .

Best Answer: yes its a malware & you need malwarebytes.

Re:If all else fails, do a FULL Clean Install of Windows ME. That is: Reformat the HD and reinstall everything from scratch. That should fix your problem. Of course only do this is ALL ELSE FAILES!!! :)

MS KB – Scandisk Runs at Every Shutdown (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q273/0/17.asp)

Re:try dispabling all of the ACPI and power management stuff in your BIOS. See if it shuts down to the "Now Safe To Shut Down Your Computer" screen. It may be crashing just before that, so it is not registering that it was shut down properly. Just a suggestion…

Re:Change the settings on Scandisk, check the save settings box, and do a manually scan of all partitions. Sometimes, Windows remembers that you still need to do a scan because of a improper shutdown. Remember to use Scandisk, not Norton, for this.
