Media Player 9, ASF files, and correct Runtimes [asf files] [media player 6]
Q: Someone else has problems getting Media Player 9 for good old play ASF files? Everyone has problems with some AVIs display of a run around 6 times longer than it should be? Any idea or is it just bad programming on the part of MSs? I still tend to Media Player 6.4 instead of the newer versions, was unbearable 7, 8 was better but still terrible, 9 is finally enough to consider using, and has some nice features not offered in 6.4, but still seems to be too buggy.
Re:The problem with playtimes seems to be related to videos encoded with the radium mp3 codec for the audio track. WMP9 is still probably a full version from being a viable alternative to the aging 6.4 revision.

I have had no problems with the current beta of WMP 9
Try playing some VBR encoded MP3's. I have one song that has a minute of silence and then goes to the "secret track" part, it locks my whole 2.4ghz system.

Re:Yes WMP takes FOREVER to start playing some videos for me and other times it crashes. I have 9 on XP and it's really annoying…I hope they release a non-beta soon.
Re:well.. i always install the newest media player.. but still playing everything with WMP 6.4
